Vintage photos
On December 2nd in Ottawa John Large is organizing a Biker Banquet. The guest of honour will be Gord Fraser. The evening will centre around Gord, and a celebration of his career as he heads into retirement. It's shaping up to be a fun night remembering a Canadian cycling legend. Former JF, rider-manager and current Symmetrics assitant director Kevin Field has been asked to do the Gord intro and pull together some photos from the past. You see in 1994 Kevin and Gord were team mates in Gord's last year as an amateur. In fact a few old faces from Ottawa were all team mates that year with Gord: Kris Westwood - current CCA High Performance Director, Hans Loeffelholz, Matt Johnson, Jim Mackie and a 17 year old David Cathcart - current Director of Marketing at Saris Cycling Group was the team's assistant Manager. Also on that team in that year were two time Canadian Champion Mat Anand, and American Dirk Friel.
Kevin's been posting that material on flickr. While digging up the old Gord stuff Kevin came accross a bunch of vintage JF/Sympatico JF photos and sent those up to flickr too. Check out some cool vintage photos below.
If you happen to be in Ottawa December 2nd, there's an off chance you could get a ticket. There will be some surprise visitors--cycling legends all.
